DON'S MESSAGE

On Tuesday November 7 Vote to Re-elect Scott Colom District Attorney for Lowndes, Oktibbeha, Clay and Noxubee Counties.

When I asked the voters to trust me to be their District Attorney in 2015, I promised 3 priorities: TOUGH on violent crime, SMART on non-violent crime, and FAIR to everyone. Over the last seven years, I’ve kept that promise and have a PROVEN RECORD of doing my part to keep the 16th Circuit Court district safe while providing opportunities for rehabilitation and second chances for

first time non-violent offenders.

My office has an over 95% conviction rate after indictment and over 85% conviction rate for cases that go to trial. District Attorney Colom has personally led the prosecution of 26 jury trials for violent offenders and got guilty verdicts in 24 of them with 1 hung jury. Of the 55 jury verdicts my office has obtained, ZERO have been reversed by reviewing Courts, saving tax payers from spending

money to relitigate cases.

Prosecuted record number of cold cases, such as the 1990 Labor Day murders in Starkville,

murder of Mack Fowler in 1996, and the rape and attempted murder of Nashedra Strong-Clay in

West Point, MS.

Over the last eight years, my office has also significantly increased access to pretrial diversion and drug court services for first-time non-violent offenders, including helping pay for rehab services for drug addicts who couldn’t afford it, helping people get the employment or counseling they need so they can find jobs and be taxpayers rather than tax burdens.

During that time, we’ve also expanded victim services to include monthly grievance counseling to help survivors of violence keep the peer-to-peer counseling they need to deal with the trauma of violence and tree planting ceremonies.

This PROVEN RECORD is why I’m humbly asking you to KEEP COLOM DA on November 7, 2023.
